Pinecone Pottery

Hi there and welcome to my new blog. This blog will be primarily about Bible study, various artistic stuff, local Black Hills items, and whatever else is on my mind. I’m an avid reader, and I’ll post reviews (good or bad) about whatever I’m currently reading.

The most important thing about me is that I’m a follower of Jesus. I’ll be posting my Bible study notes from time to time and would love to have imput from brothers and sisters. There are so many layers of meaning in the Bible, and everyone has something unique, some special insight, some personal experience to contribute.

I’ve been making pottery, primarily on the potter’s wheel, for about fifteen years, so I’ll talk about that, give some technical tips and projects for adults and kids, and post some photos. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of handbuilding because I’ve started a part-time job as a pottery/art teacher, mostly for children, and handbuilding just works better in that atmosphere–besides, it’s more fun.

I’m also responsible for teaching general art classes, so when I come up with a particularly fun kids’ project, I’ll share it with you so you can try it with your kids. Actually, a lot of the kid projects are great jumping off points for more mature artists, so even if you don’t have kiddies to amuse, you might enjoy trying the projects yourself.

Recently I’ve been doing some charcoal portraits and acrylic paintings, plus experimenting with watercolor and pastels, so that may turn up in a post or two as well. This is a fairly new endeavor for me, so still pretty exciting.
